Let’s Talk About DTF Powders

Let’s Talk About DTF Powders

Today we’re going to talk about DTF Powders! It takes a lot of great materials to come up with the best results with your prints. One of them is DTF Powder. This is a white granular product that varies its grind levels from regular, medium to coarse. The majority of DTF users prefer medium level for their projects; on the other hand, we prefer coarse powders for our machines.

Due to our providers being from China, they tend to work with a rougher powder and that leads us to use the same material. However, it’s a personal choice depending on your machine because sometimes the coarse powder could clog your print heads.

How to identify which powder do you need? Or if you NEED one?

  • That’s easy! Check your prints and if they show some sort of holes or dots, it tells you you need DTF powder for them to be curated. These small holes will start causing trouble after stretching or washing your fabrics. Better prevent that! Also, try stretching your garment, if it breaks or cracks easily, that means it lacks the powder.

Why do you need the DTF powder?

  • This will give your print a better texture and easier adhesion to your garment. It will prevent your transfer from being incomplete, to be cut after using, and it will give a soft touch to it.

Want to know how to apply DTF powder?

  • Some machines include a powder application station that processes the material automatically, to then move into a special oven to melt it. If it’s manually, which we highly recommend, it requires pouring the powder onto the transfer while it remains fresh. You will need to shake your film softly to cover your ink design by its entirety.

How to cure the powder?

  • You can use a heat press, an over, a heat gun, infrared conveyor or even a flash dryer machine. The important thing is to apply enough heat to melt it.

How about the prices?

In the end, it’s up to you to choose how you would like to deliver your results. Great quality is more than just making a great product. It’s about the amount of consistency, interest, and durability you bring into your process.
